Description: 1” sphere with multiple smaller spheres surrounding a 6 pointed star on which is imprinted Boyds Battery, pat. Jan 17, 1873. Composed of various metals, 12 discs beside the star. All contained in a circular rim. The postential healing power of electricity was appreciated immediately after its discovery. Both legitimate and quack physicians produced a wide veriety of devices aimed at healing either with generated currents or commonly with metalic combinations such as this, that produced a small electric charge and could be worn.
