Description: 14“x 2.5“x 7/8” black box with red velvet lining contains a guide 14” long with urethral curve and 13” staff with a blade on the end as well as a 14” straight staff and a guide thread. The blades fit into a slit on the bottom of the staff, which is held by a small double ring at the end and the blade is advanced along the slit to cut the urethral stricture. During the 19th and early twentieth century, with no available therapies for venereal disease, urethral strictures were relatively common.
