Manufacturer: American Brass Co.

Description: This large oil lamp is an adaptation of a student table lamp for ENT or other type of examination. Very similar to a reading lamp of the time but the condensing lens focuses the light to provide adequate illumination for the examiner. A drawing of a similar lamp in use is shown, as well as a close up of the condenser that has a lens to direct the light from the burner. There is a mirror on an arm to use to enhance the light. The observer looked through the blackened side of the mirror through a small central hole that allowed him to view the patient with additional illumination from the light reflected by the mirror.
